On conducting an excursion for notaries and employees of the notary system of the Minsk region

On May 24, 2023, as part of the events of the Year of Peace and Creation proclaimed in the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Archive of Belarus was visited by a group of notaries and employees of the notary system of the Minsk region.

During the visit, Deputy Director of the NIA of Belarus Maxim Makarov told the guests about the history and funds of the institution. After that, Vladimir Denisov, Leading Researcher of the Department for the Use of Documents and Information, conducted a tour of the archives for notaries and employees of the notary system, where he showed them ancient act books and a number of unique documents stored in the NIA of Belarus. Then the guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with what they were most interested in – the original documents of the 17th – early 20th centuries. on the history of the development of notaries in the Belarusian lands. As part of this part of the event, Irina Bober, Head of the Department of Ancient Acts, told the guests in detail about the certification of documents of various types in the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania by entering them into the registers of judicial institutions.

During the visit, the guests showed great interest in the documents of the NIA of Belarus and after the tour asked the archivists a significant number of questions.
