About the creation of a ghetto in Mogilev
Starting from the first days of the occupation of Mogilev in July-August 1941, as part of the Nazi policy of genocide, there were a number of restrictive measures against the peaceful population of the city.
The largest number of discriminatory measures were immediately introduced in relation to the Jewish population of Mogilev.
Yes, the Jews were obliged to wear six-pointed stripes of yellow color on the front and back of their clothes. Jews were forbidden to walk on the sidewalks and were forced to do hard physical labor. The local population was not allowed to contact the Jews, especially to sell them food.
Among the numerous administrative documents of the occupation authorities, which are stored in the «State Archive of the Mogilev Region», the most valuable evidence of the genocide is the Order of the Mogilev City Administration dated September 25, 1941 No. 51 on the creation of a ghetto in Mogilev.
