On the participation of employees of the National Historical Archive of Belarus in the scientific and practical conference
On May 18, 2023, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (Minsk, Nezalezhnosti Ave., 116) held the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Archival Dialogue. Archives about people. People in the archives».
Several employees of the National Historical Archive of Belarus took part in its work. At the plenary session, the head of the Department of Research and Publication Activities Dmitry Matveychik made a report «Biography as a separate area in the research and publication activities of the National Historical Archive of Belarus», in which he introduced the conference participants to scientific topics and book editions of the archive on this issue, and also outlined the prospects for further development of the mentioned direction. They also donated to the library of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus several recent book editions of the NIA of Belarus.
At the sectional meeting, Maxim Makarov, Deputy Director of the NIA of Belarus, in his report «New sources for the biography of the Belarusian writer Felix Topchevsky in the funds of the National Historical Archive of Belarus» acquainted the audience with the finds in the archive funds of recent years and revealed their information potential. Leading researcher of the department of research and publication activities Sergei Ryndin in his report «Development in the National Historical Archive of Belarus of the scientific topic «Officers of the Belarusian provinces of the period of the Russian Empire (1772–1917): achievements and problems» dwelled in detail on the relevance of such a topic, the range of sources, on the basis of which it is being developed, as well as assessed the results already achieved and the immediate prospects for development.
The speeches of the employees of the NIA of Belarus, which are traditionally based on specific historical sources, aroused natural interest among the conference participants.
