As part of the republican campaigns “Archives for school” and “My family – my country” on May 15, the State Archives of the Vitebsk region were visited by students of secondary school No. 34 in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk State Technological College

Sightseeing tours of the archive were organized for the children, as well as thematic lessons “History of the family. Internet and archives” and “Methodology for searching for documents of a biographical and genealogical nature”.

During the tours, the guests of the archive briefly got acquainted with the main activities of modern archival institutions and in more detail – with a set of measures to ensure the safety of documents in the archive.

Thematic lessons were devoted to the family as the most important social institution and the role of archives in the preservation of genealogical information. The students acquired knowledge about the composition of the documents stored in the archive, the algorithm of work on conducting genealogical research in archival institutions of the Republic of Belarus and in open sources.
