The institution «State Archive of the Gomel Region» took part in the republican action «My family is my country»

On May 15, 2023, as part of the republican action “My family is my country”, timed to coincide with Family Day, employees of the institution “The State Archive of the Gomel Region” held an event to which they were invited employees of the branch-library No. 14 in Gomel and interested users.

The participants of the event discussed the role and importance of the family in society and the state. Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of conducting genealogical research on archival documents. The archive staff talked about how each of those present can carry out their own research into the history of their family, trace family ties and the continuity of generations, talked about interesting historical documents from the archive, as well as how to navigate in genealogical sources, reference books, and acts.

For the invited guests, a tour of the archive and archives was held, during which the archive staff spoke about the specifics of the work of the institution and the composition of the stored documents.

In addition, as part of the action on May 15, 2023, the regional archive is consulting citizens via telephone on issues related to the activities of the regional archive.
