Participation of the employees of the «Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Audio Documents» in events within the framework of the «Archives – School» action at the Dzerzhinsk Gymnasium

On May 5, an open lesson on the topic «The Great Victory in Photo- and Newsreel» took place at the Dzerzhinsk Gymnasium as part of the activities for the Year of Peace and Creation and the «School Archives» campaign. The speaker from the «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents» (hereinafter – BHAKFFD) was the leading archivist of the Department of Document and Information Use, M.V.Garelik.

The use of film and photo chronicles about the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the feat of the people is an excellent way of preserving historical memory. During the lesson, photo albums from the collections of A.M.Bogomolov and V.I.Arkashev were presented to the children. At the end of the event, the students were shown the film «Liberation of Soviet Belarus» (2005) from the funds of the BGAKFFD, which illustrated footage taken on the liberated Belarusian lands.
