The National Historical Archives of Belarus was visited by a delegation of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Archival Affairs

On April 12, 2023, within the framework of the events of the Year of Peace and Creation declared in the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Archives of Belarus was visited by a delegation of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) for Archiving – Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Archiving Gulnara Zakariyevna Gabdrakhmanova and Director of the State Budgetary Institution «State archive of the Republic of Tatarstan» Bakhtiyar Railevich Fakhrutdinov.

During the visit of the delegation, Deputy Director of the NIA of Belarus Maxim Makarov told the guests about the history and funds of the institution. Then representatives of the archival branch of the Republic of Tatarstan had the opportunity to get acquainted with the original documents of the 17th – early 20th centuries concerning the historical and cultural heritage of the Muslim Tatars of Belarus, including old maps and plans, which marked the objects of the Tatar communities, documents on construction and repair mosques, the Muslim metric book, photographs of the Minsk Tatars of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. After that, the leading researcher of the department for the use of documents and information Vladimir Denisov conducted a tour of the archives for the guests, where he acquainted them with a number of unique documents stored in the NIA of Belarus.

During the visit, the guests showed great interest in the documents of the NIA of Belarus on the history of the Belarusian Tatars. Preliminary agreements have been reached on the joint study and publication of these materials by archivists from Belarus and Tatarstan.
