On April 11, 2023, on the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps, employees of the State Archive of the Gomel Region institution and the State Archive of Gomel Region Public Associations institution took part in the presentation of the book “The genocide of the Belarusian people. Death camps”, which was held on the basis of the Gomel Regional Universal Library named after V.I. Lenin.

The book with a circulation of four thousand copies was published by the Belarus publishing house on the initiative of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus in Russian and English.

During the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, initiated in April 2021, new facts and evidence were collected, exposing the mass terror of the Nazis in the temporarily occupied territories, which became the basis of the publication.

The book contains materials from criminal cases: documents about punitive operations, the Holocaust and personal stories of eyewitnesses of bloody events. Being a logical continuation of the book “The Genocide of the Belarusian People”, the presentation of which took place in the regional library in 2022, on the eve of the Day of National Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, the publication tells how the Nazis burned and destroyed Belarusian cities and villages.

In addition, the employees of the regional archives got acquainted with the exhibition project “Return”, which organically complemented the event, created as a result of excavations in the Chyonkovsky forestry and aimed at restoring historical justice, preserving the truth about the victims of the war, the tragedy of the people.
