Visit to the National Historical Archive of Belarus by a group of employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art
On April 5, 2023, as part of the Year of Peace and Creation proclaimed in the Republic of Belarus, a group of employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art headed by visited the National Historical Archive of Belarus >deputy director of BSAMLI Elena Makarenko.
As part of the visit, the staff of the NIA of Belarus handed over to the guests certified copies of birth records of three famous Belarusian poets: Peter Glebka – July 6 (June 23), 1905, Maxim Tank (Eugenia Ivanovich Skurko) – September 17 (4), 1912, Felix Topchevsky – May 30 (18), 1838. For their part, the employees of the BGAMLI transferred a number of publications dedicated to the archive funds to the scientific reference library of the NIA of Belarus -museum. Leading Researcher of the Documents and Information Use Department of the NIA of Belarus Vladimir Denisov gave the guests a tour of the archives, where he introduced them to the collections and a number of unique documents of the NIA of Belarus.
Cooperation between the state archival institutions of the Republic of Belarus creates good opportunities for a more thorough study of the documentary heritage and disclosure of the history of our country. Scientific contacts between the NIA of Belarus and BSAMLI have a significant potential in the field of biographies. BGAMLI keeps funds of personal origin of many figures of Belarusian culture, and the materials of the NIA of Belarus make it possible to significantly clarify the details of the biographies of these people. During the visit, a preliminary agreement was reached on the participation of BSAMLI in a virtual exhibition of documents dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian poet of the 19th century. Felix Topchevsky, which the NIA of Belarus is preparing and plans to place on its website in the second half of May this year.
At the end of the event, the staff of the NIA of Belarus received an invitation from the guests to visit BGAMLI.
