On the participation of employees of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in a round table in the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War
On March 22, the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War hosted an international round table «Nazi punitive operations against partisans and the population of Belarus. 1941-1944», dedicated to the tragic date of our history – the 80th anniversary of the destruction of the village of Khatyn by the Nazis.
The director of the museum V.S. Voropaev. He spoke about the museum’s work to preserve historical memory and thanked all those present for participating in the round table.
Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB) A.K. Demyanuk spoke about the systemic work of archivists to introduce new documents on the history of Nazi punitive operations in the occupied territory of Belarus into scientific circulation. He stressed that three documentary publications dedicated to the punitive operations «Winter Magic», «Cottbus» and «Cormoran» were published. Currently, two more collections are being prepared.
Head of the NARB Publications Department, Ph.D. S.V. Kulinok presented a report on the little-known punitive operation «Monkey Cage», which took place on the Belarusian-Russian border in November 1942.
More than twenty speakers from Belarus and Russia took part in the forum.
NARB also presented a banner exhibition dedicated to the Khatyn tragedy to the round table participants and visitors.
