Lecture for BSU students as part of the «Archives for School» campaign at the State Archives of the Minsk Region

On March 22, 2023, in the reading room of the State Archives of the Minsk Region, Irina Lukashevich, Head of the Department for the Use and Publication of Documents, gave a lecture on the topic «Belarus Remembers. Khatyn tragedy. 80 Years of Pain, Sorrow, Memory» for 3rd year BSU students.

During the lecture, the students once again recalled the terrible events that took place in Khatyn on March 22, 1943, considered the stages of perpetuating the memory of the burned village, and also learned about the tragic fate of some other settlements in the Minsk region that were destroyed by the Nazi invaders.

Archival documents aroused great interest among the children: eyewitness accounts, acts of the Extraordinary State Commission (ChGK) to investigate the atrocities of the Nazi invaders, the conclusions of investigators and forensic experts.

At the end of the lecture, the archive staff spoke about the events and projects that are being held in Belarus to perpetuate the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War.
