On March 22, 2023, the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation hosted the opening of the Internet exhibition «Memorial complex «Khatyn» a place of memory, sorrow and pain»
The Great Patriotic War became a time of enduring grief for the Belarusians. The tragedy of Khatyn is one of the thousands of facts that testify to the purposeful policy of genocide against the population of Belarus, which was carried out by the Nazis throughout the entire period of occupation.
In 1967, a team of architects (Yu.Gradov, V.Zankovich, L.Levin and sculptor S.Selikhanov) began to create the Khatyn memorial complex. And, already on July 5, 1969, the Khatyn State Memorial Complex was opened on the site of the burned village.
The Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation stores design documentation for this memorial, which allows you to see how this monument was created.
Decades pass, but the memory of people does not forget that terrible date. A date that has become a date of sorrow and pain for every inhabitant of the Republic of Belarus. In 2022, following the results of the investigation of a modern criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, the memorial complex was reconstructed. New pedestals and urns with ashes appeared at the symbolic «Cemetery of the Villages».
