On February 13, 2023, a rally was held in Vitebsk dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Socialist Labor Pyotr Mironovich Masherov.
A native of the Vitebsk region, during the Great Patriotic War, Pyotr Mironovich headed the Komsomol youth underground in the town of Rossony. Since April 1942 – the commander of the partisan detachment named after N. A. Shchors, who operated in the Rossony, Drissensky, Osveysky districts of the Vitebsk region.
Since March 1965 – First Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPB.
The period of his leadership of the republic was marked by a significant economic upsurge of the BSSR. In the period from 1965 to 1980, the national income increased several times, there was an active development of industry and agriculture
Pyotr Mironovich died on October 4, 1980 in a car accident.
