Conducting an excursion for the Dzerzhinsk regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers in the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents
On December 9, 2022, the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) hosted an excursion for members of the Dzerzhinsk regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers, planned as part of the events dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory and the 100th anniversary of the archival service of Belarus.
The guides, in the role of the leading archivist of the department for the use of documents and information M.D.Romanova and the leading archivist of the department of state accounting and scientific reference apparatus O.F.Chernenko, introduced the guests to the composition of the documents stored in the funds, as well as to the features of the search with the help of a scientific reference apparatus. In addition, the specifics of technological processes aimed at preserving the unique audiovisual heritage were covered in detail: restoration and preventive measures, digitization of all types of documents, features of technical control over the condition of document carriers. Also, the focus of attention was focused on the special storage conditions in storage facilities.
Visitors were given a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the collections of documents from the collections of V.I.Arkashev, A.M.Bogomolov, E.Tomashevskaya-Radziwill, as well as an album of photographs dedicated to the history of Dzerzhinsk. In addition, the participants of the tour were able to see the carriers of documents, hear the voice of Yakub Kolos. The guests were greatly impressed by the recording of the speech of the former director of secondary school No. 3 in Dzerzhinsk, Ivan Ivanovich Lysak. The voice from the past immediately aroused excitement in the present group of teachers, since many of them knew well this authoritative person in the region, as well as his son Vladimir and daughter-in-law Alla, who represented the teaching dynasty of this family.
It surprisingly coincided that the tour was dedicated to two significant dates for the Republic of Belarus. The first of them is the upcoming 85th anniversary of the Minsk region, which was largely given attention by the archive workers in their story, and the participants of the excursion. And if the first date is associated with the prosperity and development of the Minsk region, then the second is associated with grief and suffering. December 9th marks the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Crime of Genocide. The speech of the honored archivist of the Republic of Belarus T. L.Rakhmanko was dedicated to the mournful date, to which almost every Belarusian family is involved. In her report, she recalled the role of the BGAKFFD in preserving and enhancing the memory of the Belarusian people.
The main goal of this event, according to T.V.Apranich, chairman of the Minsk regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers, was to achieve the opportunity to touch the history of our country with the help of unique frames of photographic documents and films.
The daily and difficult work of the archive workers to preserve and enhance the audiovisual heritage of the country made an indelible impression on the participants of the tour. The words of gratitude of the guests became an award for the staff of the BGAKFFD.
