On November 18, 2022, employees of the State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region took part in the opening of an exhibition of 3D photographs based on the materials of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people «Return …», which took place in the cinema named after. M.I. Kalinina.
Its goal is to show the younger generation what horrors our people had to face during the years of the Great Patriotic War during the period of occupation.
The project was organized by the prosecutor’s office of the Gomel region, the department of the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus in the Gomel region with the assistance of the Gomel regional executive committee and the State Unitary Enterprise «Gomelkinovideoprokat».
The exposition presents 3D photographs of the victims of the German occupiers and their personal belongings. These terrible finds, presented at the exhibition, were discovered during excavations in the Chenkov forest.
The State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region stores documents on numerous crimes committed by the Nazi occupiers in the region. It was according to archival data that the place of mass execution of civilians was discovered – Chenkovsky forest.
The exhibition project «Return…» is the return of historical truth and forgotten names, tragic days, hours and minutes of history in order to remember…
The exhibition of 3D photographs will continue its work until December 9 at the cinema. M.I.Kalinina on Kommunarov street, 4, Gomel. Visiting the exhibition is free. Age limit 12+.
