Photo documents from the collection of Nikolai Ivanovich Cherginets, transferred by him to the fund of the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents»

On October 17, the well-known Belarusian political and public figure, writer, honorary chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus, People’s Writer of Belarus Nikolai Ivanovich Cherginets turns 85 years old.

Nikolai Ivanovich handed over a collection of photographic documents from his personal archive to the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents». On the eve of the anniversary of Nikolai Ivanovich, the scientific and technical processing of photographic documents from his collection was completed. 503 accounting units and 607 storage units were accepted for permanent storage.

Documents of the collection are represented by negatives. They reflect the state and social activities of N.I. Cherginets. Part of the collection is devoted to the formation and development of the Union State: the signing of the Charter of the Union of Belarus and Russia in Moscow, meetings of the commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, conferences of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. A significant part of the documents in the collection is dedicated to the first cosmonaut Yu.A. Gagarin, the cosmonaut’s family. Documents tell about the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Yu.A. Gagarin’s flight into space in the city of Gagarin, introduce the obelisk at the site of Yu.A. Gagarin’s death in the Kirzhachsky district of the Vladimir region; Museum of the Research and Testing Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yu.A. Gagarin in Star City. Documents devoted to Afghanistan are of great interest. The collection also includes views of more than twenty cities in twenty countries around the world.
