The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus hosted the International round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement
On September 6, 2022, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus hosted the International round table “In order to strengthen communication and leadership of the Partisan Movement in Belarus…” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement. The forum was co-organized by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Euphrosyne Polotsk State University.
The round table gathered the leading specialists in the history of partisan movement in Belarus – scholars, teachers, archivists from the National Archives, the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University, the Minsk State Linguistic University, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Polotsk Euphrosyne State University.
The traditional participants of the scholarly forums organized by the National Archives are the Professors of the Department of Social Sciences at St. Petersburg Peter the Great Polytechnic University Drs. E. E. Krasnozhenova and S. V. Kulik, and the leading archivist of the scientific-publishing and exhibition department of the Central State Archives of Historical and Political Documents of St. Petersburg, O. A. Balandina.
The students of the 2nd and 3rd years of the Polotsk Euphrosyne State University watched the round table online.
The director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, A. K. Demyanyuk, noted in his welcoming speech that the Archives contain a unique information collection on the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement. P. M. Kalinin and N. M. Sheleg, grandson and granddaughter of the Chief of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement P. Z. Kalinin took part in the forum. They shared their memories of their famous grandfather and thanked the organizers of the forum for the invitation.
The scholarly part of the round table was opened with the report by the director of the National Archives A. K. Demyanyuk “The Topic of the Partisan Struggle in the Publication Activity of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus”, which presented the principal results of the Archives efforts to put the documents related to the history of the Partisan Movement into scholarly circulation.
M. N. Skomoroshchenko, deputy chief of the division for organizational work, information and documents use at the Department for Archives and Records Management Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, spoke about the documents related to the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement.
S. V. Kulinok, chief of the Publications Department, spoke on the topic “The Fonds of the Central Headquarters of Partisan Movement in the Russian State Archives of Social-Political History: composition, scientific potential, use”; and 1st category archivist V. K. Voznesensky delivered a report “The Punitive Operation “Franz” and the Burning of the Village of Britsalovichi (January 1943)”.
The reports of the round table participants aroused keen interest and discussion.
