Students of the Rechitsa District Gymnasium visited the Local State Archives in Rechitsa as part of the Archives for School national campaign

On 23 August 2022, the students of the Rechitsa District Gymnasium visited the Local State Archives in Rechitsa within the framework of the national campaign «Archives for School». They had an overview tour of the archives and a lecture «We are faithful to this memory».

During the meeting, the children visited the archival repository, where the archivist of the 2nd qualification category of records preservation and state registration department, Tatiana Frolova told them about the documents stored in the archive and presented the oldest of them to their attention. Irina Komar, head of records management and acquisition department, dwelt on the specifics of the department, the filing process and the formation of personal collections. Sergey Zharnosenko, the leading archaeographer of the department of information and use of documents, informed the pupils about the work of the reading room.

Then the participants discussed the main topic of the lecture – the genocide of the Belarusians in the occupied territory of Rechitsa and Rechitsa district in 1941-1943. The students heard the basic information about the inhuman policy of the Nazis against the civilian Soviet citizens and got acquainted with the documents on display containing this information.
