On 19 July 2022, as part the Year of Historical Memory, the State Archives of Gomel Region organized an exhibition “Crimes of the Nazis and Their Accomplices. Gomel Region” at the Gomel Casting and Normal Molders Plant.

A. M. Danchenko, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the seventh convocation in the Gomel-Selmash electoral district No. 32, took part in the opening of the exhibition.

The purpose of the exhibition is to involve the enterprise employees in the study of archive documents about the genocide of the Belarusian people by the Nazi invaders.

The employees got acquainted with a documentary exhibition prepared by the archive staff based on archival documents and photographs reflecting the Nazi policy during the German occupation of the Gomel region.

Director of the Gomel Archives A. N. Suschevich made a report on the above topic in the assembly hall of the plant. He noted that one of the most terrible pages of our history is the annihilation of the civilian population by Nazi invaders in the territory of Gomel region. The village of Ola burned together with its inhabitants and the concentration camp near the urban settlement of Ozarichi will remain in our memory forever. The bitter pages of the Great Patriotic War in the Gomel region must be known and remembered in order not to repeat them.
