The State Archives of Minsk Region has launched the project “Memory and Pain of the Belarusian Land”

As part of the Year of Historical Memory, the State Archives of Minsk Region in cooperation with the Main Department of Education of Minsk Regional Executive Committee has launched a regional project “Memory and Pain of the Belarusian Land”.

The event was held on July 8, 2022 in the recreation camp “Chaika” of the Borisov Centre for Ecology and Tourism and on July 18, 2022 in the children’s recreation camp “Belye Rosy” in the Minsk region.

The aim of the project is to preserve the historical truth about the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices against the civilian Soviet citizens in the occupied territory during the Great Patriotic War, and to cultivate a sense of patriotism and
national consciousness in the students.

The project presented a banner exhibition “The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War in the Minsk Region 1941-1945”, prepared by the State Archives of Minsk Region.

The Education Department of the Borisov District Executive Committee and the Education Department of the Minsk District Executive Committee took an active part in the project. The open dialogue of children with the representatives of the
Belarusian Association of Former Juvenile Prisoners of Fascism was informative and interesting. Also, as part of the project, the young generation was presented a book “The Genocide of the Belarusian People”, edited by Prosecutor General Andrey Shved. The children showed great interest in the exhibitions of school museums with an emphasis on the actions of the Occupation authorities in relation to the civilian population and the models of burned villages.
