Foreign military attaches accredited to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus and their families were given a tour of the National Archives

On the National Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, an excursion was organized for foreign military attaches accredited to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus and their family members to learn about the work of the National Archives.

The deputy director E. A. Stukanova told about the main areas of work and projects in which the National Archives is presently involved. Special attention was paid to the participation of the Archives in the project “Partisans of Belarus” implemented jointly with the agency of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus “Belarus Today” Publishing House.

The head of the documents and information department M. A. Starostenko prepared a selection of documentary materials reflecting the activities of the Soviet party leaders in the organization of the partisan and underground movement in the occupied territory of Belarus, the combat merits of the first partisan detachments, the establishment of the German occupation regime.

The guests of the Archives had the opportunity to see a unique military map that reveals the location of the German troops on the eve of the attack on the USSR, as well as the German maps of the occupied Minsk, and the map of the deployment of partisan troops in Belarus.

The deputy director E. V. Kushnova informed the guests about the specifics of preservation of the archive documents.

The guests were especially interested in the archive documents testifying to the participation of representatives of various nationalities in the partisan movement in Belarus.
