The Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings took part in the 32nd International Specialized Exhibition «Belagro-2022»

The Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings (BGAKFFD) took part in the 32nd International Specialized Exhibition “Belagro-2022”. This is one of the largest platforms in Belarus where all those interested can evaluate achievements of modern agricultural science and production, both Belarusian and foreign. The list of participants is very broad and includes enterprises of food industry, agricultural machine-building, and production connected with biotechnology, selection, agricultural construction and design, specialized institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and farms. BGAKFFD participated in Belagro-2022 together with the Belarusian Agricultural Library named after I. S. Lupinovich.

The BGAKFFD employees presented the archive documents illustrating the history of the development of agriculture in Belarus from the early twentieth century to the 1950s. The exposition consisted of the newsreels featuring the period from early twentieth century to the 1930s, plots from the newsreel «Savetskaya Belarus» of the 1940s-1950s as well as two photo albums. The footage of the newsreel, which aroused the greatest interest of the visitors, reflects the main turning points in the Belarusian agriculture in the 1920s through the 1950s including the creation of collective farms, mechanization and electrification. The album photo gallery dedicated to the Second Regional Agricultural Exhibition in Gomel in 1951 illustrated an unusual for modern Belarus example of agricultural specialization in the 1950s – the cultivation of rubber-bearing plants (kok-saghyz). Visitors could also see photo equipment of the Soviet post-war period and samples of audiovisual document carriers – film and magnetic tape, as well as get acquainted with the printed materials of the archive.
