On 9 May 2022, employees of the State Archives of Grodno Region, headed by director S. I. Miklashevich, visited the Memorial Complex “Mound of Glory” to commemorate the deeds of our grandfathers and great grandfathers who liberated our land from the Nazi invaders, to express gratitude for their heroic feat which they performed for the sake of a peaceful sky and the happiness of other people.

The staff of the Archives, together with the younger generation of patriots, took part in the “March of Generations” in the framework of the national campaign “Belarus Remembers” and in a solemn meeting dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. They honored the memory of all the heroes with a minute of silence. They laid flowers at the eternal flame and the memorial, which shows the names and numbers of military units that took part in the liberation of Grodno.

The Mound of Glory memorial complex was built to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground fighters who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The solemn laying of the foundation stone of the burial mound on Cosmonauts Avenue took place on September 17, 1968 and exactly one year later the memorial was inaugurated. For its construction, the earth was taken from the mass graves of the heroes of the USSR from every district of the Grodno region (83 places in total).
