The State Archives of Gomel Region held a lesson-lecture on the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices in the occupied territory of the Gomel region as part of the Archives for School campaign

On 5 April 2022, as part the Archives for School campaign, a lesson-lecture on the topic “The crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices in the occupied territory of the Gomel region” was held in the reading room of the State Archives of Gomel Region. The lecture was given for students of Nursery-Kindergarten-Secondary School No 73 in Gomel.

The Deputy Director of the Archives A. P. Mitskevich told the school students about the archives and the tasks of the archival service. The students questioned about the archive specifics and the oldest documents stored in the archive.

The event also included a blitz survey of school students on their knowledge of state symbols of the Republic of Belarus. The students were traditionally given postcards with state symbols issued by the State Archives of Gomel Region to mark the Year of Historical Memory.

The students got acquainted with the documentary exhibition prepared by the archive staff on the basis of archival documents and photographs reflecting the Nazi policy during the German occupation of the Gomel region. Also, they were given a tour of the archive and the archive repository, during which they learned about the main directions of the archive’s work.
