Visiting the photo-documentary exhibition “Echoes of the Afghan War” at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus by students of the History Department of the Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University
On 24, 28 February, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus hosted a meeting with students of the History Department of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maksim Tank.
The future historians-teachers visited the photo-documentary exhibition “Echoes of the Afghan War” timed to the Year of Historical Memory, the Day of Remembrance of Soldiers-Internationalists, the Day of Defenders of Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, prepared together with the State Museum of the History of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archives of Scientific and Technical Documentation, the State Archives of Minsk Region, the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, the Minsk City Organization of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan “Memory”.
The archive workers gave a talk about the history of the Afghan War, told about the documents on the exhibition, which reflect the activity of the state and party bodies of the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus, public organizations and associations of the country on the realization of programs of social, labor and medical rehabilitation of soldiers-internationalists.
The students were especially interested in photos of Soviet and Afghan armed forces and civilians, maps of Afghanistan, medals and other awards. The students also visited the storage repository of personal collections.
