Working meeting of the Director of the Archives and Records Management Department Viktor Kurash with the leadership of the BRSM Central Committee on enhancing cooperation and implementation of joint projects

On January 10, 2022, a working meeting was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus between the Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus V.I.Kurash and the leadership of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM): first secretary A.S.Lukyanov, second secretary A.Yu.Prokhorov, chairman of the Central Control Commission M.P.Kashkur.

V.I.Kurash informed the BRSM representatives about the structure of the state archival system of the republic, the main activities, the volume and composition of the National Archival Fonds, and told about the projects planned by the archival institutions to be implemented in the Year of Historical Memory and the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian Archival Service. He drew attention to the fact that the State Archives have accumulated rich practical experience in cooperation with educational institutions in various forms of work with young people.

A.S.Lukyanov noted the exceptional value of the materials stored in the state archives as objective evidence of the past of the Belarusian people and state, and also emphasized the urgency and significance of active involvement of these documentary evidences for the enlightenment and patriotic education of the younger generation.

In the course of further discussions, a fundamental decision was made to expand cooperation between the Belarusian Archival Service and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, and key areas for cooperation were outlined.

During the visit to the Archives, the BRSM leaders also acquainted with the materials of the documentary exhibition “Echo of the Afghan War”, prepared in the National Archives for the Day of Remembrance of Soldiers-Internationalists, visited the reading room and archival repositories, where they could study specially identified materials on the history of the Great Patriotic War and the Communist Union of Youth of Belarus.
