«A Village Girl»
Annotation
Dunin-Martsinkevich’s first printed book. It includes a libretto to the musical drama "Idyll’ (another name of "A Village Girl"), written in the first part of the 1840s and penetrated by the idea of the classes reconciliation. The author ridicules the servility before everything foreign and promotes the thought that peasants can have high moral principles and the same delicate soul as their lords. Lords in the work speak in Polish, other personages in Belarusian.
The Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art has a handwritten copy of the libretto with corrections by unknown hand (the 1930s).
