“High Art of Sport” international exhibition opens at the National Center for Contemporary Arts

On 6 June 2019 the National Center for Contemporary Arts hosted an opening of the international exhibition “High Art of Sport” as part of the international project “European Games – European Art” jointly with the Foundation “Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019”.

Photo, sculpture, video art, graphics and performance represent eleven countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Slovakia.

The exhibition features 240 documentary photographs and newsreel images of the early period from the holdings of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings relating to the history of the Belarusian sport. Photos and film shots highlight the moments of the first sports contests, the USSR Spartakiads and athletes’ parades, training of sportsmen, portraits of outstanding athletes of that time, mass interest in amateur sports etc.

The exhibition runs until 4 August 2019.
