New data base on Soviet prisoners of war and civilians who died in 1941-1944 and were buried in Finland

On 26 March 2015 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Finland Mr. Ostrovsky met with Professor Frolov, chief of the department of former USSR countries at the National Archives of Finland. The parties discussed the ways of future cooperation between the Archives and Records Management Department of the Justice Ministry of Belarus and the National Archives of Finland. Mr. Frolov conveyed to the Belarusian Embassy records on Soviet prisoners of war and civilians of Belarusian origin who died in 1941-1944 and were buried in Finland.

This information, which includes data on 580 military men and 21 civilians whose nationality was designated as “Belarusian” in record cards, can be accessed at the website of the Belarusian Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Finland (finland.mfa.gov.by).
