Historical background

The journal «Archives and Records Management» was established on April 7, 1998, by a meeting of its co-founders, which included the State Committee on Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and the Belarusian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs.

The first issue of the journal was published on March 5, 1999.

On December 7, 2000, the Editorial Board of the Journal «Archives and Records Management» was registered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs as a non-profit organization. Since November 18, 2002, the Committee on Archives and Records Management under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus has become the journal’s sole founder.

Since 2006, the journal «Archives and Records Management» has been the official publication of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

In accordance with Order No.171 of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus dated November 11, 2025, «On Reorganization», the Editorial Board of the Journal «Justice of Belarus» was reorganized on January 5, 2026, by merging it with the Editorial Board of the Journal «Archives and Records Management». The rights and obligations of the founder of the media outlet «Archives and Records Management» were transferred by the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

According to the agreement on the editorial board of the mass media of January 5, 2026, No.2, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus has assigned the functions of the editorial board of the mass media – the magazines «Justice of Belarus» and «Archives and Law» – to the Institution «Editorial Board of the Magazine «Justice of Belarus».
