National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosts international conference on 70th anniversary of Belarusian Liberation

On 19 June 2014 the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held an international scholarly conference to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi occupation.

Attendees at the conference were Deputy Prime-Minister of the Republic of Belarus A. Tozik, Minister of Defence Yu. Zhadobin, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences V. Gusakov, Chairman of Permanent Commission for Education, Culture and Science G. Palchik, members of scholarly community.

At the plenary meeting the Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry V. Adamushko read a report “Records of the state archives of the Republic of Belarus on the history of the Great Patriotic War in the publication and exhibition activities of archival institutions”.

Before the conference the participants acquainted with the exhibition of documents “The Region of Courage and Glory” prepared by the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, with the participation of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings and the Russian State Archives of Socio-Political History.
