National Library of Belarus hosted the presentation of Viktor Korbut’s book Minsk. The Best View of the City

On 30 October 2013 the National Library of Belarus hosted the presentation of Victor Korbut’s book Minsk. The Best View of the City, which includes photographic documents from the holdings of the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings demonstrating the views of streets, parks, gardens and squares in Minsk and the individual events for the period of 1917-1995.

The book has been issued by the Publishing House Zviazda and provides the author’s research into the history of Minsk from the 11th to the early 21st centuries. The author investigates the puzzle of the town’s origin and discusses a question of the reconstruction of its historical center both from the viewpoint of the architectural objects and through the fates of the people associated with this town. Many facts in the book have been pronounced for the first time and can be of interest to students, tourists, regional specialists and academic scholars.
