Open House at the State Archive in Orsha
On September 14, 2026, as part of a unified Open House event dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman, the State Archive in Orsha opened its doors to anyone interested in learning about its operations.
Visitors were presented with exhibitions of archival documents, such as «Heroines in Greatcoats: A Life of Heroism» (or «Courage in Women’s Hands») and «The Fire of War Did Not Consume the Soul…»; archive specialists also conducted a workshop on boxing files and bundling them for storage.
Students from the B.L.Khigrin Secondary School No.2 in Orsha were shown the documentary film «Independence Day: Chronicles of Belarusian Statehood», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.
Guests learned about the composition of the archive’s holdings, toured the reading room and the document storage areas, and representatives from various organizations received consultations on archival practices and records management. At the conclusion of the event, guests had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from the archive’s specialists.
