Participation of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) in an International Multi-Profile Event at the Yakub Kolas Museum
On August 31, 2026, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI), took part in a large-scale international multi-profile event held at the Yakub Kolas State Literary and Memorial Museum. The multi-format program included three significant cultural events: the presentation of a facsimile edition of the work of the People’s Poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas, «Methods of the Native Language», a scientific and practical roundtable discussion, «The Words and Language», and the grand opening of the temporary international exhibition, «There Were Two of Them in the Fifth Company».
The main part of the gala event was the presentation of a unique facsimile restoration of Yakub Kolas’s first teaching aid from the 1920s. In it, the classic author outlined his vision for teaching children their native language and instilling a love of literature—ideas that remain extremely relevant in today’s educational environment. The program continued with a roundtable discussion, where representatives of the archival and museum communities, scholars, teachers, and librarians discussed overcoming stereotypes in teaching literature, creating new interactive formats for working with texts, and building a continuous educational journey from school to museum to library. The event concluded with a vibrant opening of the exhibition project «There Were Two in the Fifth Company», prepared jointly with the M.A.Sholokhov State Museum-Reserve «Quiet Flows the Don» and dedicated to the reflection of the events of World War I in the works of Yakub Kolas and Mikhail Sholokhov. The participation of the BGAMLI leadership in such international integration projects underscores the important role of the archive-museum in preserving, studying, and updating the national historical and cultural heritage.
