Interview with staff of the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa for the newspaper «SB. Belarus Segodnya»

On July 28, 2026, staff of the newspaper «SB. Belarus Segodnya» visited the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa. The meeting was prompted by the publication of letters from the Great Patriotic War on the website «Archives of Belarus».

Natalia Pachitskaya, Head of the Department of Preservation and State Records of Documents, and Sergei Zharnosenko, a first-category archeographer in the Department of Information and Document Use, spoke with Ruslan Proleskovsky, the newspaper’s correspondent for the Gomel Region, about the archive’s work with letters. Specifically, they discussed identifying letters in the archive’s collections and searching for information about their authors—war veterans and others. The importance of such documents for society and the state as valuable historical and biographical sources was emphasized. Archive staff also shared plans for further work with wartime letters: creating virtual exhibitions and publishing a collection of archival documents containing the texts of the letters and information about their authors.
