Larisa Aleksandrovskaya Comes to Life at the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI)

In the Year of Belarusian Women, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) presents a collection of photographs «brought to life» using artificial intelligence. Larisa Pompeyevna Aleksandrovskaya (1904–1980), one of the most brilliant and talented stars of the Belarusian stage of the last century, was one of them. The daughter of a railway employee from Minsk, she was passionate about music from childhood, performing folk songs and complex operatic roles with equal skill. During the war, she performed for Red Army soldiers and Belarusian partisans. In the postwar period, she worked as a director and public figure.

The photographs for «revival» were selected from Larisa Aleksandrovskaya’s collection 316, as well as from other BGAMLI holdings. The collection is intended to attract the attention of younger generations to this renowned Belarusian figure. The collection is planned to be used during exhibitions and presentations organized by the archive-museum. Furthermore, the collection is a good opportunity to draw the attention of researchers to Fund 316, which is an important source for studying the history of Belarusian culture, everyday life, and personal and social relationships.
