A scientific and practical roundtable discussion, «The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War: A Historical and Legal Assessment», was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus

On June 29, 2026, a scientific and practical roundtable discussion, «The Genocide of the Belarusian People during the Great Patriotic War: A Historical and Legal Assessment», was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB). The event was organized by the Scientific and Practical Center for Strengthening Law and Order of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the SPC), the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as the Department), NARB, and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

O.A.Ledovskaya, First Deputy Director of the Department, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She emphasized the importance of holding such events to preserve the historical memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War and also noted the systematic work of Belarusian archivists in introducing documents on the history of the genocide of the Belarusian people into scientific circulation.

Deputy Director of the National Archives of Belarus (NARB), PhD in History, and head of the research project «The Genocide of the Belarusian People: Historical and Legal Assessment», S.V.Kulinok presented a report entitled «Reporting Documents of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement as a Source for the Study of Nazi Crimes in the Occupied Territory of Belarus».

Representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus, members of parliament, and academic and university researchers participated in the roundtable.

For his significant contribution to the tasks assigned to the Scientific and Practical Center, NARB Director A.K.Demyanyuk was awarded the «For Merit» badge.

Participants in the roundtable also enjoyed a tour of the archives and a chance to see documents on the history of the Great Patriotic War.
