On the Information Hour «History of the Archival Service of Belarus» and a Tour at the Zonal State Archives in Orsha

On June 9, 2026, as part of International Archives Week and the national «Archives for School» campaign, Maria Nikulina, Head of the Department of the State Archives in Orsha, held an information hour «History of the Archival Service of Belarus» for 8th-grade students of Secondary School No.21 in Orsha.

During this event, the students learned about the history of the formation and development of the archival service of the Republic of Belarus, the existing network of archival institutions, their structure, scope of activities, archive acquisition zones, the availability of archival funds, file storage features, and areas of work with archival documents.

Yulia Gryadovka, Category 1 Archivist of the Document Utilization Department, led the students on a tour of the institution’s exhibition stand displaying archival documents, «Heroines in Overcoats». «Life as a Feat» or «Courage in Women’s Hands», dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

At the end of the event, guests learned about the collections, learned about the reading room, visited the archives, and were able to ask questions and receive answers from archival specialists.
