On the State Archives of the Gomel Region’s Lecture for Students: «Work in the Records Management Department, Formation of the National Archival Fund, and Organizational Archives»

On June 8, 2026, as part of the museum and archival internship, a lecture was held in the reading room of the State Archives of the Gomel Region for second-year students of the Faculty of History and Intercultural Communications of the Francisk Skaryna Gomel State University. The lecture, «Work in the Records Management Department, Formation of the National Archival Fund, and Organizational Archives», was delivered by Anastasia Artemyeva, a second-category archivist in the Records Management Department, Formation of the National Archival Fund, and Organizational Archives.

During the lecture, Anastasia Artemyeva discussed the legal and regulatory framework for archival affairs and records management, sources for archival acquisition, and the department’s methodological assistance to organizations in the formation and permanent storage of documents in the regional archive. In her presentation, Anastasia emphasized the importance of establishing the National Archival Collection, properly documenting it, and preserving certain documents.

In the archive’s reading room, students were introduced to the State Archives of the Gomel Region guidebook, which explains the composition and content of the archive’s documentary materials. The guidebook allows students to easily navigate the archive’s collections and independently work with documents in the archive’s reading room. The guidebook is available online on the «Archives of Belarus» website and in hard copy in the archive’s reading room.

Students also learned about the archive’s documents, which can be used as sources for coursework and theses.
