Time and Feat: Dialogue of Generations in Polotsk

On May 21, 2026, the walls of the Polotsk Museum of Local History were once again filled with living words and profound reflections. As part of the dialogue platform «Time and Feat: Dialogue of Generations», a meeting was held with Sergei Petrovich Kozlov, a man whose fate is intertwined with key, sometimes tragic, milestones in the history of the last century. His contribution as a participant in the war in Afghanistan and as a liquidator of the Chernobyl disaster makes his voice especially valuable for understanding the trials that befell generations.

Organized by the Museum of Local History and the Zonal State Archives in Polotsk, the meeting became a shining example of fruitful cooperation and combined efforts to preserve historical memory and pass it on to future generations.

Participants included not only archive and museum staff—custodians of the past—but also the younger generation. The young guests, who will shape the future, had a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the heroism and trials of life, to hear firsthand accounts of heroism and selflessness. This invaluable experience, conveyed through personal stories, will serve as a solid foundation for their future development and the formation of their civic stance.

A significant highlight of the event was the screening of the BGAKFFD documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy». This film, based on archival footage, allowed the younger generation to visualize the scale and consequences of one of the most terrible man-made disasters in human history. The footage, intertwined with Sergei Petrovich’s vivid account, inspired those present to deeply understand the heroism of the liquidators and the importance of the lessons learned from this tragedy.

The dialogue platform «Time and Heroism: Dialogue of Generations» is a vibrant platform for exchanging opinions, experiences, and, most importantly, for understanding key moments in history through the prism of personal perception.
