On the holding of events at the State Archives of the Brest Region dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster

From April 27-30, 2026, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, the State Archives of the Brest Region organized a series of film screenings of «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

The film screenings were accompanied by a presentation of the archive’s exhibition of archival documents, «For the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster», which featured national and regional documents documenting the efforts to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, in particular regarding employment, housing, and social services for the evacuated population.

The film and exhibition were shown at the archive by staff of the Main Department of Justice of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, students of the Brest State College of Instrument Making, and 6th and 8th-grade students of Brest Secondary School No.9 named after A.F.Naganov.

The film was also shown to students of the History Department at Brest State University named after A.S.Pushkin.
