The Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) hosted a dialogue platform with a film screening and a virtual exhibition presentation
On May 4, 2026, a dialogue platform dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War and the 85th anniversary of the defense of the Brest Fortress was held in the History Department of the Belarusian State University. The platform was jointly organized by the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) and the History Department.
The dialogue platform included a screening of the documentary «Hero Fortress», produced by the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents with the participation of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, and a presentation of the virtual exhibition «The War Passed Through Their Hearts», created using BSAMLI documents.
The event opened with speeches by E.A.Makarenko, Director of the BSAMLI, and S.N.Khodin, Head of the Department of Source Studies, emphasizing the importance of historical memory for the continuous development of society and describing the work of archival institutions in this area. S.S.Aleksandrovich, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Southern and Western Slavs, presented a report entitled «The Feat of the Brest Fortress in Film». D.S.Samokhvalov, Leading Researcher in the Department of Information, Publication, and Use of Documents at BSAML, PhD in History, presented a virtual exhibition titled «The War Has Passed Through Their Hearts».
A.G.Kokhanovsky, Dean of the Faculty of History at BSU, summarized the event and remembered the war veterans who previously worked at the faculty, wishing for the preservation of peace in our land.
The documentary and the presentation of the virtual exhibition were highly engaging for BSU students and faculty. They actively asked questions and participated in the discussions.
The dialogue platform and other joint events between the Belarusian State Academy of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) and the Faculty of History of BSU are intended to strengthen ties not only between these institutions, but also between the archival and educational sectors as a whole.
