As part of the Year of Belarusian Women, the exhibition «Vitebsk Weavers and Embroiderers» opened at the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region on Labor Day
The weavers and embroiderers of the Vitebsk region have long been renowned for their craftsmanship. Their handicrafts were exhibited at international exhibitions in Paris, London, New York, and elsewhere. In 1931, the largest factory in the USSR producing stockings, socks, underwear, and knitwear — the Vitebsk State Hosiery and Knitwear Factory named after KIM — opened in Vitebsk. Documents on display at the exhibition «Vitebsk Weavers and Embroiderers» tell this and much more.
