A screening of the documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy» by staff of the State Archives of the Grodno Region at the V.S.Korotkevich Gymnasium No.5 in Grodno

On April 29, 2026, staff of the State Archives of the Grodno Region organized a screening of the documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy» for students of the V.S.Korotkevich Gymnasium No.5 in Grodno. The film was prepared for the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

Before the screening, Olga Shnek, Head of the Publication and Archaeological Document Processing Sector at the State Archives of the Grodno Region, spoke to the students about the tragic events of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, the damage to the environment and the country’s economy, and the heroism of the liquidators who sacrificed their lives and health to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
