A film lecture at the Rechitsa District Capital Construction Department, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident

On April 22, 2026, staff from the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa met with the staff of the Rechitsa District Capital Construction Department in anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. They reminded the department staff of the chronology of the fateful events that occurred on April 26, 1986, and showed them the documentary film «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy» from the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, which depicts the reactor explosion, radiation contamination, the cleanup efforts, the evacuation of the population, and the establishment of the Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve.
