Polotsk archivists took part in a memorial service
On April 10, 2026, the eve of International Day of Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp Prisoners, Freedom Square in Polotsk became the site of a mournful yet solemn gathering. A crowded memorial service was held at the foot of the majestic monument to the city’s Liberators, where the eternal memory of heroism and sacrifice is enshrined.
Staff from the Zonal State Archives in Polotsk also joined in this deeply meaningful event. Honoring the memory of those who endured inhuman suffering within the walls of Nazi camps, the archivists, along with everyone present, bowed their heads in a moment of silence. It was a moment of profound reflection, when the sounds of the past resounded especially poignantly.
Then, as a sign of eternal remembrance and unwavering gratitude, fresh flowers were laid at the monument. Their vibrant petals became a symbol of life won at the cost of incredible effort, and a promise to never forget those who endured the hell of concentration camps.
