Tour of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) for Participants of the «Academy of the Third Age»
On March 12, 2026, the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) hosted tours for participants of the social and educational project «Academy of the Third Age». Visitors refreshed their knowledge of the national writer of Belarus, Ivan Pavlovich Melezh, whose works they had read with interest in their time, and examined documents from the writer’s collection, No.277, housed at the BSAMLI. Senior visitors actively asked the exhibition curator, leading archivist N.A. Mizon, a wide range of questions, including about Ivan Melezh’s personal life, his plans for developing the plot of his famous trilogy, «The Polesie Chronicle» (unfortunately, unfinished), and more. A second group of visitors from the «Academy of the Third Age» learned about the history of the BSAMLI and the building of the former Church of St. Joseph. Leading researcher D.S. Samokhvalov discussed the specifics of archival work and answered questions about the documents in the BGAMLI collections and their sources.
Both groups of visitors sincerely thanked the archive-museum staff for their engaging presentations and their passion for their work. The registration of «Third Century Academy» participants for subsequent tours attests to the elderly visitors’ tireless interest in cultural news in the archival field.
