On the Conducting of Classes for Participants of the Republican History Olympiad at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus

On March 3, 2026, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter NARB) held training sessions for participants (grades 9-11) preparing for the final stage of the Republican Olympiad in the subjects «History of Belarus in the Context of World History» and «World History» and «History of Belarus» at the Minsk City Institute for Education Development.

NARB Deputy Director, PhD in History, S.V.Kulinok, addressed the students with a welcoming speech.

NARB Head of the Personal Collections Department, I.V.Dorogush, conducted a session on «The History of the Partisan Movement in the Documents of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus». Inessa Vladimirovna also discussed the archive’s history, the composition and storage features of its documents, its work in publishing and exhibitions, and the potential use of archival documents in competitive research papers and projects using artificial intelligence. During the lecture, the students were introduced to documents on the deployment and combat operations of partisan formations, including orders, plans, maps, operational reports, reports, personal files of partisan detachments and brigades, award certificates, photographs, and other documents. The students were particularly interested in the NARB’s publishing projects.

As part of the event, the students were treated to a screening of the video «We Remember…», produced by NARB staff using artificial intelligence, and the video «Hero Fortress», produced by staff of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

After the lecture, the students visited the archival repository of partisan formations’ holdings. Conducting educational classes for students at the state archives of Belarus using archival documents contributes to the enhancement of their knowledge and patriotic education.
