Presentation of the collection of documents «Reunification through the Lens of Education: The Education System in the Grodno Region in 1939-1941» at the State Archives of the Grodno Region

On December 29, 2025, a presentation of the collection of documents «Reunification through the Lens of Education: The Education System in the Grodno Region in 1939-1941» was held at the State Archives of the Grodno Region. The presentation was attended by Alexander Gorny, PhD in history and associate professor, staff of the State Archives of the Grodno Region, and students from Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

Alexander Gorny, who participated in compiling the collection, discussed the main stages of its preparation, the content of unique documents revealing previously unknown facts, and the challenges encountered during the publication process.

Anastasia Chernyak, head of the Department of Information, Publication, and Use of Documents and one of the compilers of the collection, discussed the criteria for document selection and the process of archaeological processing. This collection contains documents and materials that reveal the reorganization of the education system in the Grodno region after its reunification with the Byelorussian SSR in 1939-1941.

The documents included in the collection have not previously been presented in similar publications. This publication will be of interest not only to researchers and students, but also to anyone interested in the historical past of the Grodno region.
