The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) presented the exhibition «Was. Is. Will Be.» at the Ministry of Justice

On December 23, 2025, the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) presented the literary and documentary exhibition «Was. Is. Will Be», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the renowned classic of Belarusian literature, Vladimir Semenovich Karatkevich. The presentation took place at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko, Director of the Archives and Museum, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the invaluable significance of Vladimir Karatkevich’s legacy for national culture and the importance of preserving it for future generations.

The exhibition was presented by Natalia Aleksandrovna Mizon, Leading Archivist at BSAMLI. She introduced those present to the exhibited documents, which included both official documents (minutes, letters, and questionnaires regulating and recording a person’s life in society) and creative materials—unique manuscripts of poems and novels, letters to colleagues, and photographs of Vladimir Korotkevich with friends.

The exhibition curator drew the attention of the Ministry of Justice staff to the uniqueness of Korotkevich’s personality and its manifestations in his documentary legacy: his neat handwriting, his creative manner of addressing friends in letters, numerous drawings in the margins, humorous captions to photographs, etc. The documents on display highlighted the multifaceted nature of the writer’s creative nature and aroused the public’s interest.
